Re: Big Trip Dates

I found the face of the earth and fell off! LOL.. Anyways, hope everyone is doing well. Been following this post for some time now. Glad to see you're heading to my neck of the woods. I plan to join the group for a few days of wheeling. Looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new faces. Thank...

Re: Looking for value of a 2003 TJ.

Not sure what the rules are in Illinois but in Tennessee any vehicle that is 10 years or older you do not have to report accidents even when its totaled out so you will always have a clean title

Re: 2015 Big Trip Harlan KY

Clarification on the lodging cost. Is it $20/night for each night you stay, or $20/night for the duration of the rental regardless if you stayed there or not? Asking because it appears everyone is showing up at different times. So if your not staying the night at the rental on Saturday night, do you...

Re: Moab Utah 2014

I checked out those dates (May 17th - May 25th), there might be an issue with lodging as there's a marathon race M.O.A.B 2014 event going on that weekend (see link). The houses we rented last year are posting "special event" prices. Not sure if we have a discount with them as MIJC has been...

Re: Fuel pressure issues

Might be a shot in the dark, but it happened to a friend here in TN. Check your intake for blockage. A buddies Jeep here sat all winter and a rats nest was built in the air box. It would start, but stall out and run like crap. I've also experienced a similar problem on a 4-cylinder car with a K/N ai...

Re: Fuel pressure issues

Hhhmmm..... Let's try to work this problem backwards with a few more questions. 1. Does it do this all the time (i.e. engine idles badly both hot and cold)? 2. Is this a recent problem that occurred after after you did another repair? (maybe a hose is disconnected) 3. Will it eventually stall out, o...

Re: Fuel pressure issues

I would have the same question as Fraser. How do you know it's fuel pressure? Could the fuel pressure fluctuation be a symptom of another problem, and the fuel is trying to over come that? Vacuum leak, timing, TPS sensor, IAC sensor (may or may not give CEL), or egr system issue. If you got the OBDI...

Re: Lift Help!

At that size lift, you should be able to find several offers from Quadratec.com or 4wd.com websites. If you decide to become a member, we receive discounts from these vendors too and that's always a plus. I would research their sites first to get an idea of what's available, then narrow it down to a...

Re: Air bags

I've got a 97 TJ and I've disabled both bags by disconnecting the yellow pigtails to the impact modules. As others have indicated, you have to hit something pretty hard to deploy them, so going through the trouble to disconnect them isn't worth it. I'll be plugging mine back in this spring, as I pla...

Re: The Cummins Saga.....Sigh

here's some stuff I dug up for you. No expert with the Cummins motor, but with cooler temps I would check the easy stuff first. Verify you've got good batteries. Sensors can throw bogus codes with low voltage. Disconnect them and let it sit for 30 minutes. Re-connect and try to start again. Check fu...

Re: Steering box

Never heard of the Toyota swap, but I have seen a 98-99 Dodge Durango box swap on CJ & TJ. It's a 3 bolt mount which is a direct bolt up for the TJs, and I believe the threads for the hose connections are identical. Some slight mods are needed to couple it to your steering shaft for a CJ. You sh...

Thanks for the pictures guys. looks like I can go either way, but I do like the double shear setup. Guess it all comes down to the same ole question, "how much do I want to spend?"
