Re: my new cj7
Yes the 103 number is correct. From what I read (afterwards) was that it is a crap shoot as far as the shaft length with that motor. Due to Chevy not having any space restrictions like we have. So it is worth checking this before leaving the store.

Re: my new cj7
So recently I dropped the rear axle and installed shims to correct the drive line angles. It was pretty straight forward but I was nervous seeing how I haven't done anything like this before. I had new u bolts made in Peoria rather than order them on line. They made them while I waited. Now there is...

Re: my new cj7
So a lot of overtime and I haven't had much time to work on the cj. I still haven't tackled the caster shims. I have sets for both the front and rear. I have busted 2ujoints because of the angle. The mounts for the transfer case and transmission are loose and there is one mount that bolts to the ski...

Re: my new cj7
Ok, so I learned that I couldn't have someone else fix my jeep. I took it to a guy then the next day went and got it. I'm a freaking electrician! There is no way I could live with someone fixing electrical problems on my vehicle. I needed to do it myself. I did get it fixed. Found a hot wire grounde...

Re: my new cj7
So what I learned today... New seatbelts should have taken an hour at most in a perfect world. In my world it took about 8. No amount of kroil was helping. Welded bolts to bolts only to have them snap too. Trying to figure out someone else's wiring is crazy. I'm worse off now than I am when I starte...

Re: my new cj7
Fraser, a better question would have been what part of the bracket wasn't cracked.

Re: my new cj7
Yes, I changed the color. The blue just didn't fit the jeep and I didn't like the diamond plate.
I like the color now. Seems to fit it a little better.

Re: my new cj7
So this weekend I learned a lot. Direct bolt on replacement does not mean something bolts directly on. Never underestimate the usefulness of a small propane torch. If you are going to own an old cj7 then you better trade your metric wrenches in for some standard ones. That I am allergic to power ste...

Re: my new cj7
I plan to join very very soon. On a side note...I bought the jeep and on the very same day a bullet truck backed into it and destroyed the hard top and passenger for and broke the windshield...a couple of body shops refused to write an estimate...it was totaled was what they both told me. I decided ...

Re: my new cj7
Hi Jill! I think I went to school with you. And I think we work at the same place...kind of...I'm in the Steel Mill. But on to the important stuff... I am ordering parts like a mad man right now. I hope to be able to drive it by next weekend. I would like to thank Bill for stopping by and taking the...

Re: my new cj7
I really appreciate the willingness to help you guys. I will be in contact. I just started a new job at keystone so I'm working crazy hours.
The other thing is that I have a budget of about 2k to make this happen. Is it possible.

Jon,
I live in Pekin as well. I could show you the jeep in person if that would help.

Re: my new cj7
It is all over the road. Every little bump makes the jeep veer and it starts to wobble if that makes sense. I will get pictures on here as soon as I can reduce the size.

my new cj7
I just purchased an 83 cj7. It has a SOA conversion and is a nightmare to drive over 45mph. I have done a bunch of reading and there is so much conflicting information out there that I'm more confused than when I started. People have said alignment, caster shims, drop Pittman arm, high steering some...
