You could try tacking the horizontal bar behind the seats as it sits, then run two (2) more bars at 45's from the top center hoop down to the horizontal bar. I've been running 35's on a Dana 30 for several years now without problems. Should be fine.

The biggest tire I'd go to would be a 36" tire. Currently I have 35's and I haven't broke anything yet, but the premium style hubs make trail repairs much easier if you do manage to snap one. Never seen it before, but it's a possibility. You are correct that I would also have to buy new shafts....
