Re: Head Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

Well, it looks like the Rear Main Seal is indeed now good. However when I pulled the stud out to check it for being the source of the leak, well it's not. http://jeep.wawii.com/images/2002TJ/OilLeak/20141217_091615.jpg So I cleaned it and the head to block seam again, and proceeded to externally sea...

Re: Head Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

Well, took the Jeep to get Pizza tonight. About 5 miles each way, but should be a good quick test. http://jeep.wawii.com/images/2002TJ/OilLeak/20141216_181844.jpg It looks the Rear Main Seal is holding as I see no evidence of oil coming from it or it's location. http://jeep.wawii.com/images/2002TJ/O...

Re: Head Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

I'm not sure what the "Book Rate" is for changing a Jeep 4.0 Rear Main Seal, but put me down for about 2.5 hrs, I'm getting better each time I do it. I also had a swivel 15mm socket this time rather than a swivel and a 15mm socket which helped. Based on what I think I had going on was not ...

Re: Head Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

Well, after doing a thuro cleaning and placing a piece of pig mat between the engine side and the lower area to isolate and oil leaking from the engine side from the bottom of the flywheel I ran the Jeep for 40 min. I do have an oil seep along the head to block interface on the passenger side, but i...

Oh, gee I hope not.

With the flywheel essentially dry I'm leaning towards the rear mail seal still leaking.

Re: Hwad Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

That was my first thought today, it's a paper gasket, but their is no spray on anything, but oil from the head down.

Head Gasket or Rear Main Seal Oil Leak(s)

I have a very frustrating oil Leak on the 2002 Jeep Wrangler. I've replaced the valve cover gasket, rear mail seal and oil pan gaskets. Not saying that I got the rear main seal in correctly and leak proof, but here is my problem. Some oil leaks out on the passenger side of the engine between the hea...

Any one with the ability to bend sheet metal?

I need to make a tail gate cover for he back of the LJ to go where the factory spare tire mount attached, and hide the rear air vent. It's a simple hat shaped piece (4 bends). See the quick drawing at: http://wawii.com/images/misc/TJ%20Tail%20Gate%20Cover.pdf Made from as thick as you could bend, sa...

Re: I'm clearly a sick man

Actually she's into Red, and who knows the White TJ might end up being hers if the two prospective buyers back out. She gets her permit in May. I will sell the Yellow LJ though.

I end up having to replace my shackles on my trailer every couple of years, they wear right thru. Next time I'm doing torsion axles.

Re: I'm clearly a sick man

Well Bill I guess with 4 Power Wagons, 4 Jeeps are OK.

Tom, I'm not ready for another Transmission job, but I've got some work to do on the TJ, as well as decide if I'm going to sell the LJ as is, or make some changes before selling it.

TJ Frame Picture Needed

Looking for a TJ owner to send me a picture of the frame area, above the front lower control arm mounting plate.

I don't see an issue on the Jeep, but have a Hot Rod builder telling me it's bent, but all I see is what appears to me to be a normal frame manufacturing deflection.

Il Salvage Vehicles and Titling

OK gang, as I start looking to find Gabrielle a nice little Dakota for her and I to fix up for when she turns 16, I started looking at some salvage title trucks that weren't in too bad a shape. But then I looked at the IL SOS information and it looks like if I'm correct you can't license or register...
