Forum back up

I don't know how long it was down, but I just fixed a problem in the database (that drives the forum) and the forum is back up now as of Thu 7/11 at 9:10pm. Thank you John Bruder for reporting the issue. Hopefully it wasn't down for long!

Re: Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I determined that ScottNunez and ArnoldHawkins (who previously posted spam links in this thread) were coming from known forum-spamming IP addresses. They have been banned from the forum and the posts deleted.

Another new park

Well, one I hadn't heard of anyway. I found this in an article in FourWheeler; perhaps some of you saw it as well. River Road Rally Park is located in McHenry, Illinois , which is in the northwest Chicago suburb area. Looking at their website , it does not seem like it's very big. Looks like it migh...

Re: Forum updated - Part Deux

We are doing OK with this new satellite service... the speed is ok once something gets going, but a lot of small individual things take longer to load than you think they should. Case in point, the forum upgrade. For that I have to upload a bunch of mostly text files and tiny graphics, just a few do...

Re: Forum updated - Part Deux

Also fixed... The "MIJC Forum" logo at the top of every page will return you to the main forum index. There is also some smaller text in the header that will link you back to the main website. This is the way I had it for awhile, then it broke with one the forum updates. So it's back. Appa...

Forum updated - Part Deux

If you were trying to get on the forum this morning, it was down while I was doing an update. An update that took way, WAY longer than it should have thanks to my crappy internet connection. It's now up though, and up to date. Please post here if you find something that doesn't work.

Re: Articles of incorporation

Agreed; this needs some discussion. I was originally not going to be able to come to the meeting on Saturday but my TV game on Saturday got cancelled, so I'll be there now.

And you do get an A for effort... that was a good idea! Too bad the post office doesn't see it that way.

Re: Articles of incorporation

I stopped by the Bartonville post office on other business this morning and asked whether it was possible to forward mail from a PO box; Rose suggested in passing at the banquet that this would be a good way to avoid having to make a trip to pick up the club's mail. The guy said you can forward it, ...

Re: Annual Banquet

I think it's worth repeating that the Browns and Martins, among others, are part of the unsung heroes of the MIJC. Their behind the scenes work on the banquet and other events throughout the year, every year, is deserving of recognition. Thank you Jon, Jill, Matt, Dan, and Jan!

Re: Articles of incorporation

As I re-read my post just now, it occurs to me that even the cheapest PO box I found seems like quite a bit of money to spend just to have a club address. I'm definitely not married to this idea; I just thought it was worthy of discussion, as we have now had addresses become out of date at least twi...

Re: Articles of incorporation

It is possible that the club is still registered to my old address on Rose in Bartonville, the House-I-Never-Thought-I-Would-Move-From. Prior to that it was registered to your old house near Bradley, Fraser, which is why I made the change when I was filing the incorporation paperwork with the attorn...

I received this via the "Contact Us" page on the main site. Could be some ideas for new parks to go to.

Re: Manual vs Automatic Transmission ??

I found that when I changed axle gearing from 3.31 to 4.56, engine braking got a lot more effective, since in 4-low it was trying to force the engine to rev higher. And as Bill said, leave it in 1st gear going down hills. But yeah, you need to make sure your brakes are in good shape or there may be ...

Re: Replacing stock TJ coil springs

Glad I could help. Or more accurately, I'm glad my friend's misery could be of service. :D Just to follow up, I found out today that the death wobble is back after all the other work that was done. The shop he took it to is now recommending a whole new sway bar (not just links) and new tires as well.

Re: Replacing stock TJ coil springs

Oddly, I just did this exact thing last weekend on a stock '05 TJ. I'll tell you what my experience was and you can decide for yourself. We put in a 2.5" Rough Country lift which consisted of replacement springs and longer shocks. The salesman who worked with my buddy (the Jeep's owner) said th...

Some lighting ideas for you... the headlights I used on Thomas’ Power Wheels Jeep were these crazy-bright 3” 1-watters. The description says work light but they definitely have a focused beam like a headlight. https://www.ebay.com/i/332094973028 I had to get creative with the mounts so the lights wo...

So yeah, I did this. AMC 258, TF-727, right-hand drive. Runs and drives nicely. Could use a brake job. I think it's drums all the way around, so maybe the brakes are just crappy to begin with. Still has the mail tray up front. Manual steering. Short term: put a couple more seats in it. Long term, ma...

Re: West Peoria 4th of July parade 20017

I'm kinda late to the party here but I'm guessing you don't have kids. I'll educate you: children between 20 and 70 pounds are still learning how to listen. They try, but they're not all super-good at it. Compound that with baiting them to run out into the road to get something they would really, RE...

Forum updated

The forum has been updated to a new version of the software. This broke some of the mods I've made over the years, like links to member pages and to the home page. I will be efforting fixes for these in the coming weeks, just as soon as I remember how I originally did it. :D
