If you hot wire the pump will it start and run?
I don't remember which year you have, but the distributor signal is used to fire the injectors, and the flywheel sensor is used to fire the plugs.

1982 Jeep Wagoner Limited
Well, a couple of you know, but now the rest of you will. I'm now the proud (well OK maybe not proud) and somewhat intrigued by, owner of a 1982 Jeep Wagoner Limited. I've drained the bad fuel from the fairly clean plastic tank and ordered a new pickup/fuel float, running it from a gas can for now. ...

Re: November Flat Nasty trip 27-29
First, Happy Thanksgiving! Well, last night at 9:30 I was unloading the trailer and on the road off on a Durango retrieval run. After the kids left the house for Thanksgiving Dinner about 5-10 miles from the house the Durango blew coolant out the radiator cap, and then the temp gauge went high. So i...

Re: November Flat Nasty trip 27-29
Well gang, Darrell just got back from Iowa (helping is daughter make the move to Carroll IA), and with the farm and weather he's not going to be able to make the trip. At this point I'm on the fence, as the M's not up to a Flat Nasty with out the rear locker, and the Jeep needs a little more ground ...

Engine/Transmission Skd Plate
I've considered (had better have before rock crawling again) building a skid plate to protect the underside of my YJ's engine oil pan and transmission pan. However before I go looking for steel and doing some planning and fabricating, I'm considering it might just be wiser to buy one. My YJ is the 4...

Thanks for the confirmations! Now to jumper or connect the leads together that Painless had in the harness for the NSS. The only other modification to the harness so for has been to route the reverse leads thru the bulk head connector so they can be connected tot he stock Trans/Transfer harness at t...

Re: 1983 CJ7 Neutral Safety Switch - Manual Trans
Well, it looks like Bill to the Rescue again? I found a post from him in November 2011 on the Jeep Forum that seems to indicate there is NO Neutral Safety Switch.

1983 CJ7 Neutral Safety Switch - Manual Trans
OK gang, the 1983 CJ7 I'm working on has a manual 4 speed with a manual clutch (stock) and the 4.2L in-line 6 (stock). I'm re-wiring it and I didn't find a neutral safety switch on the trans, just a back-up circuit, and a 4WD indicator circuit. The clutch pedal doesn't have a switch on it either. Al...

Bill, with no Rims/Tires and the salvage Title and dis assembly, the 3-4K sounds about right from what I've seen, but always try to get it on the cheep.

Re: Lift and tires
Especially if more than 1", but even at 1" on a YJ the shift linkage (on an automatic) must be adjusted and the radiator/fan shroud lowered. The 1" kit I installed on the TJ was pretty good, it came with the 1" adapter to address the 4x4 shifter, but it only wanted the fan shroud...

Re: Lift and tires
I've got a 1" Body Lift on my YJ, and as long as the body bolts come out with ease it's an easy install. Adds some additional tire clearance with out raising COG. Next is to add a little suspension lift.
