General Forum FAQ

Post by wdln »

The MIJC board has agreed on the following general rules for the Mid-Illini Jeep Club forum:

1) The MIJC is a family-oriented club. Profanity, obscenity, and racist/sexist remarks on the forum will not be tolerated. For many potential members, this is the first contact they have with our club and it's a great way for them to learn about us and decide whether they want to join. We want to make a good first impression. Also, remember that this forum is accessible to anyone in the world! Although we view it as our own place to hang out and talk, anyone with internet access can see what we're doing. Forum pages even show up in search engines! Please consider this when posting anything.

2) Good posting etiquette indicates that you should a) not start a new thread if one already exists on the topic you'd like to discuss and b) post in the forum appropriate for your topic. In other words, if you'd like to ask who's going on the next event, post in the MIJC Events forum. If you'd like to discuss why ice cream is so delicious, The Back Room is where you should go. You get the idea.

3) The forum is moderated and regularly monitored by members of the board. If a post violates any of the above policies, a moderator may opt to delete or move it. If your post is deleted, you will be notified by e-mail as to why it was deleted. However, this is an extreme measure and will only be taken if the offending post warrants it. We're not here to "censor" anyone.

4) Posts in the For Sale and Wanted forums will be deleted once the item has been sold to avoid confusion. If you post something in either forum and the sale has been completed (or you don't need the item anymore), either post a reply saying as much or contact a moderator and we'll delete it. Then our For Sale/Wanted forums will consist only of active items. Also, remember that those forums are viewable by anyone anywhere! So don't be surprised when someone in North Dakota asks you about the tires you have for sale.

Above all, think before you post. Let's all try to be civil here... we're all on the same side. If you have any questions about the above guidelines, feel free to contact anyone on the board.
