Since I haven't received responses from the other officers (maybe I don't have all of the correct contact information) Figured I'd at least start a discussion here,

As Dave mentioned in his previous post we have several positions up for election and November is typically the nominating month prior to the December elections. I would like to nominate all current officer holders eligible for re-election for another term. I would also like to make a motion (if it can be called that, if not call it a suggestion) that membership fees for those holding office be waived. We had discussed this last November, but had tabled it.

Fraser: I believe Dave was also in need of the new member information from the forms that you have on hand for this year.

Please consider other options to keep the club active during this incredibly unusual period in our lives. After all, living through a pandemic is historical.

Personally I believe that all the current officers should be allowed to run again since we basically couldn’t do anything in 2020.

While there's something to be said for Jon's sentiment, our hands are tied by our own bylaws, which themselves require multiple months' worth of meetings to change or add to them. And there's no language that addresses any of this... just requirements that we have nominations in November and elections in December. There are no exceptions. Of course, we already missed the deadline for officer nominations in November, so that train has sailed. At this point we could just have a gentleman's agreement to look the other way and figure out how to fix it in '21, but I suspect the paperwork we file with the state will not wait for us to get our $4!+ together.

Perhaps rather than continuing on as usual, scheduling events that are almost certainly going to be cancelled and having meetings (potentially online) to talk about the cancellations, we could simply suspend all club operations (meetings and activities) until things return to normal. Or is that too extreme? Obviously we would need to discuss such a thing in a meeting, which is a bit ironic.

In the vein of "every law has a reason it exists", such as the specifically-worded way you have to "own a vehicle titled as a Jeep", or the membership renewal late fee that was originally directed at particular members who abused the timing of their renewals, Frank and I probably should develop and word some new language in the bylaws that addresses pandemic conditions. Or really, any circumstances that could prevent us from having normal meetings and/or conducting business as usual, most importantly throwing off our election cycle. This new language would take time (and an actual meeting) to pass, so it wouldn't help us right now, but it would be good to have it in there for the future. Perhaps a clause specifying that officers can temporarily suspend club activities is all that would be needed... just the ability to press the pause button.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

All sounds good to me. I would like to add...I think we should have no dues for any member for 2021. I think 2020 could be and should be erased from memory. I believe we have enough money to do what we need in 2021 and if we don't, we can cross that bridge when we get to it.
