Engine/Transmission Skd Plate

Post by W_A_Watson_II »

I've considered (had better have before rock crawling again) building a skid plate to protect the underside of my YJ's engine oil pan and transmission pan. However before I go looking for steel and doing some planning and fabricating, I'm considering it might just be wiser to buy one.

My YJ is the 4.0/Automatic, but I'm running the TJ crossover exhaust pipe rather than the YJ, the TJ crosses over in front of the lower portion of the oil pan rather than under the transmission. I'm also running the stock YJ skid plate and have the 1" body lift.

One manufacture (Under Cover Fab Works) has suggested their late model TJ unit (UCF056) as it would give me the best clearances and options. Another (Rokmen) didn't have any recommendations.

Any one have any suggestions, recommendations or word of advice?
Thanks,
Will

I'm running the Under Cover Fab Works transfer case & engine skids. I have a 1" mml and 1" body lift and with the "extra clearance" skid I gained a couple of inches ground clearance. I'm very happy with mine. It's a good strong skid that fits great.

UCF runs specials a lot. They currently have 10% off using coupon code "FB10". I think you can get 10% off anytime with "jeepforum.com" or "PIRATE4x4.COM" codes.
