Moab Utah 2014

Post by TSEJEEPERS »

I had sent out an e-mail to people who might be interested in going to Moab in 2014 to get a general idea for a number. Now we just need to decided on a date and who really wants to go for sure.
Please feel free to post up if interested in going and which option you like.
I want to book the houses by the end of the month to insure we have enough houses and beds for everyone. Details will be e-mailed to those who decide to go.
If you have any questions about the trip, feel free to e-mail or message me.

Sally

Option 1
Leave May 17th and return home May 25th. Memorial Day is May 26th and this would give everyone a day to recoup.

Option 2
Leave May 24th and return home June 1st

Option 3
you tell me a date.

Vicki and I WILL be going to Mo-hab in 2014!!!!

As for the dates, i prefer option #1. My reason for this is, the following week may be a lot busier because of the Holiday. The less people in Moab the better i like it .

I would love to go, but the first two options would be issues as we aren't done with school until after Memorial Day. If you go with option 2, I might be able to meet up with you after graduation.

For me, any date after June 1 would work. Better yet, Spring Break (March 24-28) or even a trip when there is snow on the ground :)

On a side note, my dad and I are doing a few trails in Ouray CO today and I just realized yesterday that we are only 149 miles from Moab! Wish we had planned an extra few days. We have headed down there for a couple of days....doh!

Hmmmm March. I like those dates mainly because it would be my birthday week. ( inside joke there). It would also be a little cheaper for the housing. The only problem would be going through the mountains that time of year. So it would be leaving March 22nd and returning home on March 30rd.
Anyone have thoughts on this date?

March date would be my birthday week as well :) I like all the options that my daughter is out of school. I would have a hard time pulling her out of class for almost a week.

I'd rather stick to a summer timeframe. That time we went in April was cold, especially when that snow storm rolled in and we were all topless and doorless.

Shannon, you really don't want to wheel Moab with snow. At least I don't .
If you look at the adverage temps. in Moab, the're a hi of 62 lows around 32, in March. This is in the city of Moab, add in another 1000 feet of Elevation, and a wind, burrrrrrr.

Add me to the list of going, but have no idea if or where I'll be working at during any of the time frames. Would prefer the warmer options. If I have to back out I will still make good on my piece of the house rental.

I checked out those dates (May 17th - May 25th), there might be an issue with lodging as there's a marathon race M.O.A.B 2014 event going on that weekend (see link). The houses we rented last year are posting "special event" prices. Not sure if we have a discount with them as MIJC has been a regular customer over the years. Although the weather here in TN never gets as cold as IL, we're still a fan of warmer conditions for traveling and Moab wheeling  !!

Clint, Thanks for the heads up! It could be a little more time consuming getting to the trails with that Marathon going on. Also there would be alot more people in town. I have another option on dates. We could leave May 31st and return/ be home June 8th. I'm hoping this might satisfy those who want to go after June 1st. After this date, it tends to get really warm there. I will call the office I deal with for houses on friday and see what will be available. Let me know what you think of these dates. Shannon, Larry, and John, will your spouses be coming with you?

The week of the 17th thru the 25 is , IMO a toss up. The marathon starts on the 24, that would be the day we would leave to come home.

So the question is, how many marathon people might be there when we would be on the trails , Monday thru Friday? Yep, The $64,000 dollar question.

Vicki and I can do the dates the first week in June.

I called Accommodations Unlimited in Moab, I can get 4 houses the week on June 1st - 6th. Now the $64,000 question is who is really in to go?
My list so far is....Al & Kat, Bill & Vickie, Tom & Sally, Jim & Lisa, Clint & Misty, Fraser, Steve, Matt & Lisa, Jim & Michelle, John G, and Larry H. Anyone else?
I have resevered the houses for these dates, but we can change the dates if need be. I'm hoping these dates help with the farming and school people.

Will, I have one question. Will it be just you or are you bringing someone with you? I have 2 bedrooms left with queen beds. I have feelers out to fill the last 2 bedrooms. We could stick you in the loft areas with an air mattress if it is just you.
