Big trip 2017

Post by alkat »

I need some help here, I'm getting ready to make next years schedule and I have no idea where to go for our big trip. Would the people interested in going tell me where they'd like to go. Keep in mind we need to be able to drive there easily in 2 days and be able to spend 5 days wheeling there without doing the same trails over and over. Don't just tell me a state or a direction, give me details on what you want, specific areas, parks, etc. We have even hit 3 different parks in Arkansas one year, but remember to do that we still need to work out 4 drive days and 5 wheeling days. So come on guys I know some of you guys plan on going next year and have ideas about where you'd like to go and I want to hear them, so open up.

Rubicon trail would be cool....but probably to far. What about Las Cruces, New Mexico? http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/trai ... e_78fb.htm

New Mexico could be interesting, I've seen trails in mags before but don't know a lot about it. I'll do some research before October's meeting. I would think it would have to be around Memorial Day to beat the summer heat. Any one else have any input or ideas? Thanks Shannon this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for

Las Cruces would be cool, or I would be up for the Black Hills in South Dakota again.

Ok guys I've head 3 ideas, all plausible, New Mexico, N. Dakota and Moab. I'm having a little trouble findinding enough to do for a week in New Mexico, the people that went to N. Dakota last time said they were just starting to find the good stuff when it was time to go home and I've head some people would like a return to Moab since we didn't go this year. What I would like to see is if your interested in the big trip next year go let's discuss it at the October meeting. In the meantime please feel free to let me know where you're wanting to go in this thread.

Here are a couple of places that look interesting (Keep in mind that I haven't seen them, just read about them)

Drummond Island, MI http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/trai ... e_f3c0.htm

Steve mentioned these two. They look interesting:

http://www.outbackoffroadpark.com/home.html - Eau Claire, PA

Rausch Creek Off Road Park in PA http://rc4x4.org/park-information/

Just throwing a ideas out there.

Moab?
I would not mind going back.
If we do we will be bringing Grand Kids.
Bring your Kids, Grand kids, Nephew, Niece, Cousins, dogs, what ever.
Think about it, this may be the only time in their life to see these sites.
It would be really cool to see the look on the kids faces the first time they saw the Rocky Mountains, Hells Revenge ect. By the way there are a number of people in our club that did not do Devils Gait.
We also have a number of members that have not been there, and have expressed interest in going.
Maybe even hook up with the JK group? Of Course they will have a house all to them selves.
I know normally this would be a shorter trip, but it has been 3 years since we have been there.
Oh and we are not planning this.
If we decide to do this we will give the contact info to who ever wants to plan it.

I'd love another trip to Moab. Understand some have been there several times and want something new. The large number of trails of all difficulty levels close to town and easy to find is good. Lots of options for lodging and food in the area close together. Also other activities in the area for those who don't want to wheel everday

We would be interested in going to Moab. We just got our wrangler this spring and intended to go this summer. Unfortunately things happened and we were not able to go.
