Roamer Cruise Night - Streator

Got another email about another event, again conflicting with one of our own but I'll post it here in case anyone wants to go. This one is Labor Day weekend and is sponsored by ZORTCC, or Zombie Outbreak Response Team of Champaign County. (yes, really) Here's the info, courtesy of Nicholas Johnston of the ZORTCC:

About Roamer Cruise Night - Held in downtown Streator on Main Street each Labor Day weekend, this family event brings over 600 restored and antique cars and features its namesake 1917 Roamer automobile. The largest automotive event in downstate Illinois attracts spectators numbering between 15 -20,000. It's a time of nostalgia, camaraderie, and good old-fashioned fun. The Event is Hosted by The Dream Machines Car Club.

ZORTCC – The Zombie Outbreak Response Team of Champaign County is a relatively new off-roading club based in central Illinois in Champaign County. While it predominantly consists of jeeps, they are open to any and all off-road vehicles.

Brief Overview – The Event will begin Saturday September 3rd in Streator. Registration for Roamer Cruise Night begins at noon and lasts until 7pm. The cost is 10 dollars. Once each participant registers for Roamer Cruise Night they then will need to make a stop off at Cheapseats Bar and Grill located on Main Street between 2 and 6pm. There is no cost to register with the ZORTCC and you will automatically get entered in the raffle. Here they will be given a wristband that will be used for discounted entry and camping at The Cliffs Insane Terrain and a raffle ticket for the drawing. The entire downtown area will be roped off and all the shops and bars will have open doors and everyone basically bounces around checking out all the cars. Participants are free to do as they wish, however Cheapseats is extending their parking lot to us for “4x4 parking only.” Here you will most of the jeeps parking and you can check out everyone’s set up. The drawing will be held at Cheapseats around 10pm. Every store and bar will be extremely busy so it is strongly suggested to make your way there early enough to get inside. The final list of sponsors donating to the event is not yet complete, but some of the verified contributors are 4WD.com, Discount Tire Direct, Superchips, Rough Country Suspensions, The Cliffs Insane Terrain, and Cheapseats. Participants are responsible for finding their own lodging that night. There are hotels available in town, but due to the size of the event they fill up fast and early. There are also hotels in Ottawa, Illinois which is between Streator and Marseilles and about a 15 minute drive from the car show. I have included information on them.

Sunday, September 4th we will be meeting at The Cliffs Insane Terrain at 9am and will ride trails until 5pm and then break for dinner. We may possibly have a night run that evening around 10pm but we will need at least 10 participants to register ahead of time.

Monday, September 5th many participants will again hit the trails and enjoy the day.
