Vin tag/ tub/ frame swap question

Post by NomNom04 »

So I have decided to swap the tub on my Newley aquired cj7 and was wondering what do I have to do with the vin tags from both tubs?

Do you have the title to the new tub? If you do I would use that one. IIRC the vin tag on the Renegade has rotted off the firewall.

There may or may not be a vin plate on the Renegade by the windshield motor, I don't remember.
The frame also has a partial vin number stamped in it. It's above the passenger rear wheel on the top of the frame. I doubt that one ever gets looked at except in the event of a stolen vehicle.

Since I'm here, I can tell you the Chrysler 727 isn't a bolt up to a 258, 304, 360, or a 401 Jeep engine.

The one I am looking at is a 76 and the guy lost the title so I would have to file for one.
Is it hard file for a lost title?

The 727's found in Wagoneers, j-trucks and other AMC vehicles will, though.
