Badlands - April 19

Post by Jill Martin »

Jon and I are planning on going to the Badlands on April 19th. I believe we are going to go over just for the day. I think Frank is planning on going as well.

Anyone else have plans to go?

Kat & I are planning on going for the day as long as I don't have to work. I'm pretty sure i've got that weekend cleared but can't say for 100% positive sure until later in the week.

We plan on being at the gates at the Badlands at 9:30 (eastern time) 8:30 our time. They open at 9 eastern, but it usually a mad house at that time.

I did find out that the snack bar is open on Saturdays.

I will have my cel phone with me if you need to call 251-7985.

Sounds good.

We have an update... Frank will not be coming he is in Germany for work. I think I would rather go to Germany than to Indiana.

Looks like no work for me this weekend, so we'll be at the gate by 9:30E.T. (unless Kathy sees a junkyard see wants to stop at) and the Beef House also sounds good.

We are trying to decide if we want to go wheeling in the rain on Saturday or go on Sunday when it is nice. I am trying to get a hold of everyone that said they are going to get your input. Please call me at 309-251-7985 if I have not talked to you.

Thanks Jill

Looks like we are going to move the trip until Sunday the 20th. The rain looks like it will be gone by then. We will still meet at the gate at 8:30 our time. Please call me at 309-251-7985 if you are planning on going. If I already talked to you, then you don't need to call me..... unless you want to. : )

Well we went to the Badlands on Sunday. The weather was nice. I think everyone had fun.

Jon broke his traction bar and pulled apart his drive shaft. OOps..

Larry was having cb issues. It sounded like a car honking each time he hit the transmit button. It was funny.

Bill and Vicki took Bill's new CJ5. I guess new to him. : ) I think it did pretty good.

Will, (a guy we know from the Power Wagon Rally) took his M-37. He broke his exhaust manifold. That was his first time at the Badlands. I think he will want to go back!!!

A guy named Jeff from Chicago had a TJ. He joined our group in the morning.

We did the green trails in the morning and the back of the orange trail after lunch.

On the way home everyone stopped at the Beef House. I didn't get to stop because I had to get home for a softball game.

All in all, good trip and had lots of fun!!

Hope all is well back home. Work over here is interesting; the weight of two connecting rods for the engines over here weigh more than a Jeep. Very cool.

Frank - We are sad that you missed the trip also. We figured you would be trying out the beer over in Germany!! We saw a BIG CJ, so you could have played with that instead of BIG Cat's.

Jill Again Thanks for letting me tag along in the M (Dodge), as I trully had a great time.

DrDirt, Yes that was me you saw. Saturday I made a fuel run to top off the tank before loading up the truck for the trip to Attica. I love off Dalton City Rd in Rustling Waters III, probably 5'ish miles from you, depending on where in Long Creek you are.

Later,
Will

Hey, Will. I live at 3565 Salem School Road in suburban Long Creek. Stop by some time and we can talk about Jeeps, or in your case, Dodges!
