Tremont Turkey Festival - Parade
At our last meeting, we discussed participating in this event. This year is the 40th annual festival, and we were invited to participate. The parade is Sunday June 12th at 4pm. On the parade entry form, they ask for the number of participants (jeeps), so I called to ask if it's a big deal if that number changes between the time we send the form in and the actual parade day. I finally got a call back from one of their organizers today, and it doesn't seem to be a problem. They will call me closer to parade day to get a more exact number. For now, I estimated 10. Post here if you plan to join in. Thanks.... Fraser

I should have received more info about the parade by now, but I haven't. The most important thing being: where do we all gather before it starts? Oh well, Tremont is a small town. Look for decorated floats and marching bands. The parade is scheduled to start at 4pm, so we should probably be there by 3.30, if not before.

Despite the lack of information we managed to find our spot in the parade lineup and had a good time on a packed parade route. My own laziness proved to supply some interest for paradegoers; rather than drive the CJ to Tremont with its wobbly, out-of-phase driveshaft, Heather and I simply drove the whole kit and kaboodle (Wagoneer, trailer and CJ) to the parade, mud and all, fresh from the Badlands. The announcer wondered aloud why the Jeeps behind me were so clean! Yes, it DOES pay to be a deadbeat.
Good to see Jon and Jill made it back from Iowa safe and sound... When's the next parade? Anyone invite us to a fourth of July parade yet??
Dave
