Wrangler Dana 30 hub Question

Post by 48cj2a »

I know Willys Jeeps and not the newer stuff...

Does anyone know 1 - if the Wrangler Dana 30 hubs are 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern, and 2 - are they virtually the same hub as the 5 on 5 1/2" hubs as far as bearings are concerned and will work on a older Jeep or Willys spindle to convert to 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern?

Looking for alternatives for converting a Bantam, M100, or M416 trailer to use with the Wranglers and newer Jeeps sharing rims etc.

I assume you are talking about the YJ or TJ Dana 30s.
Both use a unit bearing rather than a spindle, bearings and hubs.

They are bolted on the knuckle using 3 bolts.
The axle nut holds the bearing together.
Yes they are 5x 4 1/2 bolt pattern
My trailer has 5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern, not sure if the spindle is the same.
I do have all the part numbers for the bearings, not here at home though.
I can get them for you if it would help.

I was not sure what year the 3 bolt bearing unit started and was hoping it might just be a revised bolt pattern std hub shared with the Dana 30-44 family of axles.

Most std trailer hubs I've seen so far have too small of bearing to slide over a earlier Jeep spindle.

I have never really looked at the Bronco II set ups besides the lockout.
They have the 5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern and use a spindle, bearings, lockouts and hubs.
I do know the stub shaft is smaller than the YJs.
May be a option.
