Re: Big Trip for 2011?

The Black Hills would definitely count as out west. SD, CO, UT, etc..... Really open to all ideas. The November issue of Four Wheeler has a section of where to wheel by state. Bill, Lisa says hello as well. We're looking forward to seeing you, Vicki and everyone on the next trip. Work finally has me...

Big Trip for 2011?

Curious if there has been any discussion yet on the potential for a more extensive jeep trip for 2011? I'm envisioning another week long trip if there's interest. Please chime in with your thoughts and ideas. My initial area of interest would be somewhere out west again but I'm open to ideas.

Re: winch fix

Back in the day I burned up a motor on an HS9500i. I think I remember paying $200 from Jim's Offroad for a new Warn replacement. Since then I've noticed that some of the Warn winch motors are fairly common in generic form. You can find off-brand replacement motors for this winch and others on Ebay f...

Duke, I was shocked to see your post when I hit submit. Looks like we both had this post on the brain independently but they both posted within a minute. I actually had to make a quick edit to keep it from sounding like a smart ass response to your stealth post! Regardless, I think we agre...

Re: ZJ I-6 or V-8 which to buy?

Duke, you may be thinking of the Quadra-Drive option. I believe the 242 should be a selectable case just like a 231 (don't quote me though). One interesting thing to note about the v8 WJ's is that the rear D44 has an aluminum center section. The WJ's also feature a 5 x 5 lug pattern which is also a ...

Flat Nasty August 20-22nd??

Does anyone have any interest in a trip to Flat Nasty the weekend of 8/21? Another jeeper off of Pirate4x4 and I are kicking the idea around. I'd most likely be making this a 3 day weekend. Please let me know.

Re: The Cliffs

The city is in the process of replacing the sidewalk in front of our house and also 2 neighbors. For the last week or so my truck has been held captive in the garage. Supposedly they'll be done pouring on Monday but I don't know if I'll be able to drive on it by Saturday morning. What do people thin...

Here's where you can find Area BFE maps and various other area related information. If you work your way backwards from the BFE specific forum you'll land at the parent website of Rocky Mountain Extreme.

I think the weather has been jinxed at Vail Pass. Snowing now with more to come. If the ski slopes are still open the roads should be well taken care of. If not, who sells chains? :D

Three more questions for you Sally. 1. Do the houses have internet? 2. Do the queen rooms have linens/towels etc? 3. How far past the 474 overpass is the rest stop that we're planning on meeting at?

I had an employee down in MS who is currently trying to do this. Here's one of the responses that he received to your same question. http://bb.tennesseeoffroad.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=10;t=002517 It will "work" but it's certainly not a direct bolt on. The frame dimensions ar...

Re: Towing Advice

A diesel tow rig is no more legal to tow with than a gasser. They both are required to adhere to the manufacturer's specified GVWR, towing capacity and all other associated DOT requirements regarding towing. A diesel is obviously better suited to handle the rigors of towing but it's all relative to ...

Gasket for Gas

The fuel cell that I'm currently installing has provisions for both the factory TJ sending unit/pump as well as a GM style 90 ohm sending unit. It comes with a block off plate for the GM style sending unit port. What should I use to seal this surface? Both the tank and plate are aluminum.

I agree. You'll regret a loud muffler after having to listen to it all day on the trail. I have a single chamber flowmaster with no cat and it's ridiculously loud. I'll be replacing it as soon as I get some other projects out of the way.

Harness Mounts

Is 11" of separation from the shoulder harness mount to the seat through holes too much? I know 0" of separation is ideal but this isn't a formula 1 racer and that's not realistic in my situation. Also, what about the shoulder harness angle coming from the mount? http://img692.imageshack.u...
