Re: Stupid Girl Question
I always just assumed it was the two axles coming into the pumpkin that were the first and second members. After some searching I found this, which quotes a couple of other forum posts as well: https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/whats-the-difference-bet-a-3rd-member-and-a-differential.351603/ But ...

It's doubtful this Jeep will see any time in the dirt. But I don't think he's going to get one.

Return to main site
Please note that if you click on the "Mid-Illini Jeepers" text in the blue bar at the top of any forum page, it will take you back to the main site home page. This function tends to break when I update the forum, as it's custom code, and I usually forget how to add it back again. Such was ...

JK Pedal Commander
A friend of mine has a 2-door JK and asked if I knew anything about this:
https://pedalcommander.com/products/ped ... -bluetooth
Anybody use one of these, or something like it? All this drive-by-wire computer gobbledy-gook is not on my Jeeps!

I broke the forum
I broke the forum while updating it... it's now fixed, but all my customization is gone. Might take me awhile to put all that back.

MIJC Banquet thanks
A big thanks to both the recognized and unsung heroes of the club (like the elves who book the hall and rearrange the tables before everyone gets there) who make the banquet happen. We had a great time. Also thanks to all the folks who gave Thomas a pop-tab or two. You thirsty fish ended up giving h...

Re: 98 4.0 lower radiator hose
Jeeps are surprisingly unskilled at keeping fluids where they are supposed to be. However, a rear diff cover gasket is a cheap and fairly easy repair, and it gives you an excuse to change out the gear oil. If the puddle is in the middle of the rear axle that's probably all it is. It could also be th...

Re: Election of Officers/meeting 12/07 RSVP needed
I know this isn't the "I can't be there" thread, but I unfortunately have to work that day and will not be able to attend. My weekend freelance work is one of the reasons I feel like I cannot/should not hold an office in the club, as I only get to a few meetings per year and almost no whee...

Re: Nominations for Club President
Also, regarding the MIJC Facebook "page" and "group". Jill added me as an admin to both this week. Further research indicates I was wrong; we can't merge a Facebook page with a group. I suggested to Larry W. that we keep the group (which has all our activity) and ditch the page, ...

Re: Nominations for Club President
A few comments. Although I'm on Facebook, and you could even say that most people are, not everybody is, and I think it's unfair to ask people to join that third-party website to participate in the conversation or view club pictures (even if all the important stuff happens on the forum). Yes, it's f...

Re: Nominations for Club President
I was asked at a club meeting earlier this year to look into the Facebook issue, which I agree does cause some confusion. One of the Facebook pages is a "page", where only the administrator of the page (and duly authorized deputies) can post. The other, which is the one with all the activi...

Hello all... the forum software is now updated to the most current version. NERD ALERT: The forum update allowed me to update the version of PHP our server runs to 7.2, which makes both the forum and the main club website more secure. It would be important to make sure that the American Legion could still accommodate us on the 18th before we make such a change. I don't know if January 11th was already checked out with them.

Re: Nominations for Club President
Frank and I started talking in the context of, "well, NOW what?" Specifically, what happens if nobody wants to be president, and the snowball effect from there. Does that mean that Larry Haas becomes the de-facto president, or at least has the job of leading the monthly meetings? What if t...

Re: 98 4.0 lower radiator hose
It sounds like you've got it figured out, but the other thing I was going to suggest is to use a quality american-made hose clamp so you can tighten it down without stripping it, and make sure it's positioned optimally on the hose and pipe. If you get it on there crooked or too shallow, part of it c...

I wasn't about to say "change the banquet so I can come" but I would also support a change to 1/18, as I can't make it on the 11th.

Re: Jeep value
I think all the standard Jeep stuff applies too... has it been wheeled (lower price if it has, higher if it's fairly pristine), if lifted, was it done correctly, etc. For tops, I'd look at what kind of shape the soft top is in, if there is one. At that age, if it's original and well-used, the window...

JFB Offroad - Manteno, IL
Ignoring the fact that the guy got our club's name wrong, I got this from the "contact us" page on the main site. Manteno is about 2 hours from Peoria , just off I-57. It's also due east of Braidwood and its famed Braidwood Inn , now the Sun Motel. I do not recommend staying there. -------...

I don't know how long it was down, but I just fixed a problem in the database (that drives the forum) and the forum is back up now as of Thu 7/11 at 9:10pm. Thank you John Bruder for reporting the issue. Hopefully it wasn't down for long!
